Near endgame expert mage discussion

Ok im currently playing mage and finishing my second expert playthrough.
I wanna discuss mage gear here and different layouts.

Also please leave the moonlord and the very end end gear out of the discussion for now, im curious about progression. So i would suggest discuss about post duke or post martian gear please!

I wanted to discuss a little the mage class and the pros and cons and techniques and such!

Currently im very curious about the charged blaster canon as seen here

I want to like that weapon and think it really got a cool mechanic, but i feel im bad at using it.
So what are the experience of fellow mages with that specific weapon? At what events , enemies bosses do you find it very useful or effective ? When would you want to avoid it and such ?

What do you mean? Cannon is a drop from Martian madness event.

Basically: I wanted to discuss a little the mage class and the pros and cons and techniques and such!

Which means the experiences of current expert mage players, what favourite weapons there are what they like about their mages, what techniques they use all that.

For example i like to have spectre hood and spectre mask in my inventory and switch them on the fly while doing boss fights. So when my life is full i use spectre mask for more dps and burst damage and when i reach like 200 - 150 life i open my inventory and switch to spectre hood to heal fully back.

Also im just curious about opinions of mages who utilize the charged blaster canon and getting tips for using it better for example.

Read your question, you wanted to discuss PRE Fishron/Martian gear and instantly jump to POST Madness gear.
Aye, i change healing gear for dps then i don't need. Most of the time run around with healing one.
Blaster cannon: well haven't droped it for me yet from around 40 kills of saucers.
Usually run around with laser minigun.

Also what do you think about razorpine vs laser machine gun? Do you think laser machine gun is all you need there ?

Both are fun, but i like machine gun more, it allows to aim faster, since you have to compensate for gravity with razorpine.
Introduction of Martian madness items and Solar eclipse ones makes more easy farming for new gear, then farming moon events.

Would you say laser machine gun makes the razorpine totally void ?
Im not sure if its really wroth it to go farm frost moon events just to get a razorpine ....

Aye, if you lazy to go farm for all the materials for summon, Martian is easy to summon event. Not like that you have to cheese saucer to get upgrade. But it's a developer's thing, they might fix it in a future patch.

i was asking about razorpine lol . not how to summon stuff :/

ok let me be more clear. do you find situations where you wanna use razorpine exclusivelly for bosses / monsters?
do you use razorpine now often, since you also got machine gun ?

Razorpine comes from the event, that you have to summon, won't happen on it's own. Summoning item needs 3 different materials to make, one comes from the dungeon, others are farming as well. In the end of farming session, Razorpine might not drop at all.
Minigun = get Plantera's nettleburst and cheese Saucer from the bunker.
And i never got Razorpine since last patch. It's more or less like: spend some time to get a chance for it to drop.

again sir, i NEVER asked for spawning tips or farm tips on summon item, please dont derail this thread. obvioulsy i know how to get a frost moon.

iIspecifically asked you if the razorpine is effective and such and yet you insist of talking of summoning. I speak about MAGE topic. Mage items , mage tactics all that.

Its ok if you didnt use any razorpine in 1.3, but then just dont comment on razorpine, since are not up to date.

Any other people got current comments on 1.3 mage playthroughs and item comparisons ?

So any other mage players got tips on using charged blaster canon right ?
Its really hard for me to like keep track of enemies , dodge bullet hell and then properly aim with the full charged channeled laser. Like is that just a gimmick or can it be used right with good training and situations ?
