It's one of the coolest weapons in the game, considering it fires ice cubes...

Anything with crystal shards, for one (bullets, darts, phasesabers...).

It may fire ice cubes that become solid blocks(the attack can pass the cubes for shields)but won't win coolest XD we have a sword that shoots rainbow cats,and the last prism!

Is this sarcasm? I honestly can't tell. Though what I do know for sure is that the Ice Rod isn't new at all, been in Terraria since 1.1.

It's firing speed has been majorly increased and can actually deal quite a bit of damage early hardmode and protect you from certain enemies much quicker. That's what OP means.
