Eater of worlds despawning for some reason

When i use shadow orbs to spawn him, he crawls around for a second and then disappears while still on my minimap. I'm in the corruption, which spawned in a desert. I've played this game for ~2,300 hours and have never seen this before.

the only real explanation is that that desert might close to a biome that isnt corruption and it spawns in non-corupted blocks so it ends up spawning away because its no longer in corruption because desert biomes arent generally that deep in terms of blocks. dont ask me though i only have like 500 hours

Wiki says it does so while the player is not in the Corruption. Check your exact biome where you are.
