This corruption system is horrible...
I did not know that corruption spreads, and I smashed like 20 demon altars, I went on a spree purifying a whole forset and then across a dessert and another forest, when I checked back with the dyrad she said I ahden't made any progress, to my horror when I checked the map they had all started to re-corrupt :(

Is there anyway or purifying an area for good? because at this rate my world is doomed to be steeped in corruption in the not to distant future, the underground just above hell is like courrption for 500 blocks and seems liek its beyond saving.

You can try clearing corruption systematically. Clense an area and then isolate it by sorounding it with 3 block wide gaps to prevent re-infection.

Sounds like you're having the same trouble I did. Thankfully, there is a solution.

Or rather, a Green Solution. It's expensive, though, only sold by the Steampunker (who, by the way, only appears after the defeat of a Mechanical Boss), and can only be used by the Clentaminator, which costs 2 platinum. It's the quickest and most effective way to rid an area of the Corruption, though.

Hmm, how far on is this boss? without too many direct spoilers, atm I can't even kill lthe twins :( think ill get to the mech boss in tine to save the world? so far underground is a lost cause, its all purple, I ain't even seen any hallow yet but apparently the dyrad says there is 7% of it in my world somewhere and half a jungle has been taken by corruption, a dessert, 2 or 3 forests and a beach + sea

Actually, the Twins fit the criteria, as they are, in fact, one of the 3 Mechanical Bosses. The other two are Skeletron Prime (If you can't beat the Twins, I wouldn't go after him) and the Destroyer (Highest health of the bunch, but easiest to avoid getting hit by and easiest to inflict damage on). Just beat one of them, make sure you have an available house, and you should be fine.

Also, I'd recommend getting at least Palladium Armor before going into battle against any of these guys. They can be quite difficult at the start of Hardmode.

Well atm Im using titanum wizard helmet, titanuim boots, diamond robe, harpy wings, I have many armourd accesories including a wizard emblem and my weapon is a REALLY op dagger.

Magic dagger, it takes hardly any mana to use, with crystal ball buff and my gear does 60dmg per hit, fires as fast as I can click the button and I had it reforged until it was jsut 1 away from the myhtical category. I looked it up on wiki and apaprently it can have greater dps than a megashark gun :/

A clentaminator tip: buy an ammo box from the traveling merchant and use it before start clentaminating. It will help save on ammo (400 green solution costs 1 platinum). And the clentaminator is fully automatic. Just hold down LMB and aim to spray.

Indeed it can, but it isn't as sustainable as the Megashark is. You'll be downing Mana Potions constantly.

Go looking for that last bit of Titanium to make the last piece of armor. You'll get a neat bonus that is very useful against every single boss. Also, try planting some Hallowed Seeds in the Corruption and in between the Corruption and the remainder of your Jungle. It'll not only stop the Corruption, it'll spread into it, and the Hallow can't spread into the Jungle. Be careful about your Oceans, though, as it'll still spread into those no problem.

k will do, made 14 worm food and sold almsot a thousand demonite from the eater of worlds and spent a good bit of it on dyrad supplies, bought lots of pure powder, 99 hallow seeds, and a stack of sunflowers because I heard it helps stop corruption? Also is the dirt wand useful for fighting corruption in some way? and I noticed that at both sides of my base (which I bult directly on top of spawn point) are large 5 across living trees, take it they are natural borders to help stop corruption?

Giant Living Trees will significantly slow the spread of the Corruption and the Hallow. I'm not sure if they'll actually stop it or not, however.

As the Dirt Wand places, well, Dirt, no, it's not particularly useful, as Dirt can have Corrupt or Halowed Grass grow on it, and we're trying to prevent that.

Be sure to save your money for now, as you will need a great deal of it to purchase the Clentaminator and a meaningful supply of Green Solution. Otherwise, it may have all been for not. Be sure to make plenty of Hellevators in your world, too, and make them at least 3 blocks wide, as the Corruption can't spread accross a 3 block wide gap of air or uncorruptible materials, and it will be useful for use with the Clentaminator, especially if you make another Hellevator within 100 blocks on either side. You'll want some wings and a very quick Pickaxe (the Picksaw, Shroomite Digging Claws, and Pickaxe Axe are all good choices here), too, so you can do any of this with a measure of efficiency.

You can use holy water to stop the corruption, you need to craft many holy water as possible before you go to hardmode :D
Torchfire Jul 15, 2014 @ 1:44pm
Sunflowers do not stop the spread of corruption in hard mode.

And you should also be careful of the corrupt thorns growing out of the surface corruption, since they can grom more than 3 blocks horizontaly, and they do corrupt other blocks they come into contact with. You can prevent this by placing ropes through gaps on the surface, since the thorns do not spread through ropes.
make areas next to the corruption hallow as the corruption never overtakes hallow. then start from scratch puryfying everything until you are done

Uhm 0_0 im in hard mode and i tested it and sunflowers DO stop corruption :/ 2 or 3 next to eachother blocks cirruption from going past them, theres actualy a funny scene in one of the corrupted areas there is a bit where i put a single sunflower to see if corruption can get past 1 flower and theres jsut this poor little flower on ome ncie green grass surrounded by death XD
Theo Rork Jul 15, 2014 @ 3:09pm
something that i did that worked is i bought 600 bombs and blew a large hole between my house and the corruption if you make a wide hole it can't cross:profgenki:
