What's the best way to farm enemy worms?

Which worms are you talking about? The small regular ones, the giant ones, the devourers...?

Ones that are not in the underworld and are not in hardmode.

That doesn't narrow it down very much. How big is the kind of worm you are referring to?

The only drop you could be refering to with that description would be a whoopie cushion, right?

For that, I agree with the above post: set a water candle somewhere underground and drink a battle potion, then you should get a lot more worms to spawn than usual.

if you mean giant worms, they only drop a whoopie cushion and a banner.

On the other hand, what if he is referring to a devourer? They drop worm teeth and can only spawn in Corruption areas. Worm teeth are used to make thorn potions and unholy arrows.

I would concur with Therp, though; the only real way to "farm" any worm is to lure it out of its natural habitat with something like a water candle or battle potion.

Yeah you could just make a farm too, to speed up some spawns. Maybe atop your base (house), or close to it.

If you fill in such a large area that nothing else can spawn, would that have an effect?

More like 9 years. But, yeah, this thread needs to be closed. It's already been answered and it's pre-1.3 so most stuff players are doing now they couldn't do back then.
