You found A spider nest. Not THE spider nest. Most worlds spawn with more than one. Keep exploring, maybe she's in a different one.

Yeah, lots, my hellivator on a small world cuts through 3 individual ones and the stylist wasn't in any of them...

Spider nests have the nasty habit of being generated in some weird out-of-the-way places. Even in a small world. A lot of what links the larger cave systems together in my main world - which is a small world - are spider nests, and i'd never have known they were there if I hadn't fully explored the perimeters of those cave systems.

I should also say that I found my stylist NPC in a spider nest I'd explored before, but due to there being lots of spiders and lots of cobwebs to hide them, I obviously hadn't looked hard enough. So keep looking through each spider nest you find very carefully. Eventually you will find her.

Mine has more than five, believe it or not. I consider it lucky I found her in the first (or was it the second?) nest I encountered.

And I don't think it is a matter of finding the right spider nest but rather searching practically any spider nest at the right time. It actually does seem to have a lot to do with chance. Just look very carefully in any spider nest you happen to come across and be careful not to hit her with your pickaxe, as ShadeDaystar mentioned in another thread. If you can't find her, then look in every other spider nest you can think of.

They use the forum searchbar. Which they are supposed to be doing to look things up.

methinks the notion of Searching To Read Only may be alluding them.

Just go back later, NPCs that haven't been talked to and spawn naturally can despawn. That happened with my sleeping angler.
