What's a blood moon?

All I know is that I hit a bunny and he turned into a corrupt bunny and it said "The Blood Moon is rising..."

Its an Event that can Happen When you have above 200Hp.. or something like that

Blood Moon is basically a night time event that happens ...well let's just say occasionally but not really that much.

During Blood Moon :
Monsters spawn rates increased.
NPC reducing spawn rates ignored.
Certain enemies become aggressive.(Bunnies, for example.)
Water becomes red.
Certain enemies can spawn.(I believe only Hard mode has anything to do with this, so you shouldn't worry about this.)
Zombies can open doors.(Normally they just knock on it.)
Certain NPCs sell special items that you can only get during a Blood Moon.

Also, deathweed is in bloom! Get some while you can.
Early on one might see this as a threat, but later you'll see them as opportunities to harvest deathweed, buy cool items, amass lots of money, and collect a top hat!

once after finishing off a blood moon, a goblin army immediately spawned and I lost 3 NPC's.

In real life, a "blood moon" is another name for a lunar eclipse. In Terraria, it's an event that has a 1/9 chance of happening every night besides a new moon, and it increases the monster spawn rate among other effects (listed helpfully by Ckss).

The best way to deal with it if you're a new player is to blockade yourself into your house until it goes away; once you get better gear, it'll become a great opportunity to get lots of loot from killing all the enemies, but until you have at least silver/tungsten armor you'll be pretty easily overwhelmed if you try to fight it. Once you get access to traps or lava, you can also set them up outside your house so you can remain safe/do other things inside while still reaping items from enemies outside.

Unlike a normal night time condition, a Blood Moon will only last nine minutes compared to the normal 15 minutes of any other time.

I only have 140 health c:

it can happen at any time no mattter how much hp you have.

blood moon's spawning rate can improve chances of geting a rare enemy. If you want, you can wait for a blood moon, drink a battle potion and place a water candle to make spawn rates Insanley high. Helpful for hardmode dungeon farming. (Do not try this without bettle armor or incredable weapons: (surgoe of the corupter or vampire knives !st is better) You WILL die)

it will happen after you have at lest 1 extra heart contaier, trust me I read the ENTIRE wiki

rather than hide from it, even if you don't have the best gear try to kill all the hordes. Might get lucky and get a zombie arm to use as a sword before you ever find tungsten, its equivalent in damage.

Also once you get to hardmode, never waste a blood moon/solar eclipse by hiding or being underground. Too many good drops you'll miss out on, even if you die over and over its still worth it if you get a good drop. (got bananarangs on my first hm bloodmoon and a death scythe on my first solar eclipse <3)

The blood moon is a moon that there is more zombies then a just a moon and you can see clowns and other uncommon monsters. But the blood moon is less rare than a solar eclipse

Actually, Blood Moons can start happening as soon as you have 120+ HP. Not any time. I can see how that may be hard to distinguish, however, as one can find and use a Heart Crystal fairly early on, if one knows how and where to look.

Then the wiki is wrong. There are rare instances where a Bloodmoon will happen on the first night of the game, without the player acquiring any extra health.
