how to make chests private??

ok so i was on a server with a friend, and i noticed that all of the chests were unlocked so i put an item in the chests and asked them to see if you could take it out, and apparently you can. if i am on a public server wanting to store my items somewhere if i have a full inventory, what do i do???

Then you need to use a normal chest. You can't lock them. Only the piggy bank and safe are "secure" storage.

The only way to do that really is to use TShock when hosting a server. Other than that, piggy banks and safes.
