1.4.5 release ETA?

This is a serious question. I was considering replaying this...for a very very long time. However, the announcements feel like endless baiting stuffed with merch sales while the target gets endlessly kicked down the road.

"Terraria 1.4.5 is Coming in 2023" - Excerpt from late 2022
"We are closing in on the last stages of 1.4.5 development" - June 2023
"2024 is going to be a great one, we cannot wait to show you more from 1.4.5 in the months to come!" - Basically announcing you are months away...after being nearly done for 9 months.

I keep getting this with games, not wanting to miss out on "almost" released content, but this "almost" state ends up lasting for 1-2 years. I miss the old days of announcement that said "this came out" instead of the modern day hanging unreleased content in front of you the whole time while you can't play it, but also don't want to start playing as it might come out just after you finish and you will feel like you missed out. A proper ETA would be nice so we can actually plan our replay. Craftopia ended up doing the exact same thing with the Seamless update where "almost" took nearly 2 years.

Damn , some people in here really like the taste of boot leather and merch shoved down their throats.

Don't make a video game your entire identity and maybe you won't feel personally attacked when it receives fair criticism.

This game has a history of delays , we have been hearing about Terraria 2 for a decade , terraria otherworld got cancelled and now we are back to terraria 2 bait "will they make it or not" the devs say they would like to , say they are working on it , but nothing to show for it and meanwhile terraria 1 gets enough minor updates to drip feed people and string them along until the next merch sale.

I've got more advertisements on my terraria notices than actually substantial game updates , it's not something people should be defending but here we are.

hate on the late update all you want but 1.4.5 was originally only going to be some cosmetics, a weapon, and an item frame clone, 1.4.5 will overhaul the game as much as 1.4 did. I don't wanna read what this thread's evolved into, but this update is one the dev's think we deserve and it should stay that way.

Same boat as you, I was going to do a new playthrough last year but the update was framed as "about to come out" and thought it would be pointless starting a new world. Well I've been waiting and it definitely isn't. Not sure if I should bother waiting a month more or just assume it's going to take ages and I might as well start playing again now.

according to a twitter leak it will release 6 month later than update 6 for stardew valley which is next tuesday
