The underworld difficulty doesn't really increase much after hard mode , most people will farm the wall of flesh a few times even.
Also a tip for next time is to make minecart tracks to move on while fighting the wall of flesh , unlike platforms they can't be broken by lava , lava slimes won't spawn on them and you can move automatically so you can focus more on fighting the Wall of flesh.
I personally prefer just a natural material footbridge all the way across. Main reason is for mimic hunting. A nice long stretch of solid blocks across the entire underworld just works really well for spawning shadow mimic after shadow mimic. Once the wall of flesh falls, a single run across the underworld normally nets me a minimal of half a dozen mimics.
Mimics can spawn on platforms im 90% sure
