which npcs are good for defending your fishing spot during blood moon?

pirate captain seems to be good for killing enemies while you are fishing(so you can have a lot of gold and the special blood moon monsters) but he gets killed by the clown alongside angler due to those teeth bombs

You’d be better off blocking their doors so they do not get killed, and making lava pits for enemies to fall into.

No, if the lava pool is short enough, coins will not be destroyed. So if the pit is like, 8 blocks across, 1 bucket of lava will be enough to kill them and not destroy items.

any hardmode npc really, most are powerful.
id personally recommend truffle, cyborg, steampunker, etc.

I also always have my Queen Spider Staff and Nimbus Rod out as well (in addition to the two minion slots, which obviously don't use the Imp).
