any other recommendations, pre...pumpkin/frost moon/ duke items
Dude, Razorblade Typhoon is a Duke drop. Stop suggesting it.
As to the OP, it depends on what you're fighting. Some weapons are amazing for large numbers/segmented bosses but are terrible against normal bosses and vice versa. Sounda like you already have some of the best magic weapons (pre-events/duke anyway) but you could try venom staff, leaf blower, heat ray, nettle burst, spectre staff, and wasp gun.
Actually, just look at the magic list and pick one. If it's a hardmode item it probably isn't bad. They all have their little quirks and to me you don't really start getting to a "best" until the events/duke.

As for accessories, anything that boosts either damage or armor works quite well. Reforge all accessories accordingly (warding if you're going armor, menacing if you're going damage.) Obviously you'll want a set of wings regardless and most people like to use both the ankh shield and lightning/frostspark boots in their build (though that one can be removed for another accessory, especially if you use a hoverboard as your "wings" to make up for the lost speed.)
Well, it has been a while since the last time I played a proper mage (my last run I played summoner to try it out and I hadn't played prior to that since before they added the halloween event) but as I said before; what you have is among the best. Particularly if you don't mind buying pots off the wizard and chugging them to spam the fork.
The rainbow gun's a great secondary, especially if you're fighting in a relatively linear area. Shoot it down where the mobs will appear, and they'll commit suicide on your rainbows.
Pre-Duke Fishron and moons? Not sure. I never really used magic until after the moons, and I only use it as an auxilliary to my rapid chaingun and melee.
Alright, so the Golden Shower is a must have for Hardmode mages. You've probably already got it, but if you don't, go get the materials for it and get crafting. A Demon Scythe is also a very good choice, as while it isn't as good as a few Hardmode magic weapons, it hits hard enough and can be reforged very cheaply. A Magic Dagger is pretty good, too, as it's cheap to fire and drops relatively often from Mimics. If you have the good fortune to pick them up, a Shadowbeam Staff and an Unholy Trident will prove invaluable, the former for it's nigh infinte piercing and ricochet ability, and the latter for it's incredible damage.
Once you start the Moons, a Razorpine (Frost Moon, from Everscream) or a Bat Scepter (Pumpkin Moon, from Pumpking) is invaluable, both capable of producing rather high DPS and the Bat Scepter having a homing capability. As stated before, if you can beat Fishron, the Razorblade Typhoon and Bubble Gun are truly exceptional additions to any player's arsenal, Mage or no.
so im restarting from the begging startng with the destroyer, although i beat him several times over, but the other bosses, except plantera keep overpowering me, especially the twins.
really helpful, i do have the golden shower but have to find it amongst my hundreds of chests (im a hoarder and recently just been dumping all items into random chests).
i have more than enough money about 60 platinium with the discount card from the pirate invasions i farmed. im just really low on magical items other than daggers and/or an aqua sceptor or two, plus the items i originally stated.
Well you killed Plantera, right? Just head into the Dungeon and hang out for a little while. After awhile, a Magnet Sphere or two should drop from the various Armored Bones. If you're lucky, one will already have a good modifier.
There's also the Shadowbeam Staff (Necromancers) that I already mentioned, and a couple of other staffs worth telling you about: The Inferno Fork (Diabolists) and the Spectre Staff (Ragged Casters), both of which deal more damage than the Shadowbeam Staff. All 3 drop from various Caster type enemies in the Dungeon, who's names are listed next to the weapon they drop.
Good luck. If you need any help, you know where to find me.
