Crimson or Corruption for first time expert mode?
I beat normal mode a couple of times and I would like to try my hand with expert mode next, seeing that the expert rewards differ depending on the world type, what would be the best world in your opinion for magic/range?
Thanks!

id say corruption cause the worm scarf is pretty handy for pre hardmode and hardmode

YOU GOTTA GO BIG INSTEAD OF GOING HOME AND CHOOSE CRIMSON FOR THAT DODGE CHANCE THAT THE BRAIN OF CONFUSION GIVES!!!!!

practical corrupt since enemies are a bit easier and less harder. Eater of worlds is basically small enemies you can kill easier than crimson. Worm scarf is for making expert mode back to classic so long as you always have it on you as the defense makes enemy attacks easier to tank a bit more. Cursed flames is meh.

Crimson for high risk high reward. Brain is harder to kill as are the enemies that spawn there naturally. Brain of confusion is a hit or miss RNG luck based dodge item. But best of all ichor is like useful for most enemies cept maybe the moon lord as it lowers THEIR DEFENSE making the game even easier on expert mode as the enemies die quicker vs you dying slower.

crimson easier, and better stuff.

Crimson because
1)it's easier to contain - its chasms are not as deep.
2)Devourer/World Feeder are very annoying to deal with.

You can get Corrupted seeds from Dryad in Hardmode and make artificial Corruption to get Corruption items.

Corruption if only for the musket, once you're in hardmode you can make an artificial crimson for ichor. The only issue would be mimics, since keys of night could only spawn corrupt mimics. You'd have to search for crimson mimics underground.

I think that if it's your first time doing expert then choose Crimson, because (imo) Brain of Cthulhu is easier to fight than Eater of Worlds :)

I usually go Crimson.

IMO the only somewhat decent benefit of corruption is getting shadow armor without having to kill any bosses, since eaters have a small chance of dropping pieces of it (OG graphics) and it's pretty easy to make a lava farm for them out of reach of the big worms.

it's otherwise a pain in the butt due to how it inconveniences travel until you can get it fully bridged over, where as Crimson is much easier to navigate (and easier to contain), Crimson's gear is generally slightly better than corruption gear as well, also an easier boss.

Especially now that you can make an artificial corruption without having to world hop, I find it just more useful to just use Crimson, and make a Corruption biome to fish their items/get Worm-scarf once the Dryad starts selling the Alt Seeds. (though I never use worm-scarf so for me that's not even really important (way too many other artifacts I'd rather use), getting a pretty easy Shadow armor is the main reason I tend to consider Corruption).
