When playing with a newer player, encase the spawn with a super strong block (Clorophyte ore will do). Make sure you have the RoD or a strong enough tool. Enjoy. Be sure to let them out later, so you don't lose a friend.

Pranks are so much better on Minecraft, honestly. It's a lot easier to mess with people with dumb things that don't do any permanent damage, like filling their houses with chickens or cows and sheep (so it's super noisy, laggy, and just obnoxious), or using bone meal to encase the area around their house in trees, or making redstone traps.
