The Drill Containment Unit is slower than UFO, easily destroy unwanted blocks, unable to attack. Not OP.

I have one on almost every char, but i don't see any real need for it and almost never use it.

You are almost as fast digging with the endgame pickaxes, while mounting it you can not attack and when you're able to get it you have all digable materials you need anyways, aside from a little ammo and building materials.

If you know how to use it right, you can dig in straight lines without too much trouble. And it is definitely a hell of a lot faster than any other method of drilling in the game, especially if your goal is to make wide tunnels to prevent the spread of corruption/crimson.

Well I just tried it out again and I dug several hundred spaces worth of a perfectly straight 4 block high horizontal tunnel.

I keep my cursor straight in front of me and near the side of my screen, and I try not to move faster than it's digging. I finished the tunnel and I dug straight across half of a small world, with very little error (it's 5 high in a couple spots)

you can go faster than you mine but you need to keep a steady hand well not faster than you mined but as fast
