Where is the best place to farm for hardmode ores?

Like near Hell, near the crystal caverns, etc. Where is the most common spawn point in the world? what depth?

Surface fishing lake is best place for hardmode ores.
Yes i am serious.

Fishing crates give you hardmode ores and bars when opened in hardmode.
While a little time consuming its easier and can even give you ores/bars that are not available in your world (Like for example Titanium in world that spawned with Adamantium instead)

Usually, you wanna have Orichalcum for the bare minimum to fight the three mechanical bosses. But if you wanna go the extra step, go for Titanium armor. I usually find the ore near hell, or like the surface right before you fall to hell, sometimes around lava too.. But yes the guy above is actually correct, do a lot of fishing and you'll eventually get iron and gold crates, giving you Titanium ore and bars. If you wanna go mining, I recommend using Spelunker potions due to the ore hiding around sometimes.
