How to get Collector Edition Carrot Bunny Pet on STEAM DECK
https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Carrot
Over a decade ago during the 1.1 Era, there was a special physical CD collectors edition of Terraria that came with a few physical goodies and an exclusive In Game Pet in the form of the special Bunny Pet and the Carrot item.

You get it by buying the collectors edition and running the Exe on the CD that turns your Game into the Collectors Edition, and while most PCs these days no longer come with a Disc Drive that can still be countered buy using a Disc Reader adaptor or such.

Now, I've finally decided to pick up a copy of the old Collector Edition, however I'm faced with an issue.
How the hell do you get this to work for the Game when on a Steam Deck?
The Deck has no place whatsoever to place a Disc, and I struggle to think of a way to get an adapter to work without an unusual one that works with a USBC lead.

Does anyone know what I'd go about doing to get this to work? I tried looking up info about it but couldn't find anyone else asking the same question or any sollutions. :terraria:

You'd have to edit the software's registry directly on deck. On PC this is easy; on linux (which steamdeck uses) it's a bit more complex.

First, make sure you've ran the game at least once. You don't have to do anything, just run it to the title screen.

Second, navigate to the game's registry folder. in file browser. (this is not a link, steam is being ♥♥♥♥♥)

Third, create a new file in that folder called "values.xml"

Fourth, open that file with a text editor of your choice, and add
<values> <value name="Bunny" type="string">1</value> </values>
to it. Save the file.

Fifth, you're done. Any new character made should start with a bnuuy.

At least, this should work. It's the process for obtaining the bnuuy on a linux PC (if you already have the collector's edition and no disk tray), so there's no reason it shouldn't work on deck.

Cool, thanks for the tip, I guess I'll end up doing that then.

Note that if you're using tmodloader, the workarounds will *not* work, since currently the carrot is unusuable for tml users on *nix systems. Base *nix Terraria will work just fine though.
