That's a general trend in gaming worldwide, you know.
From one side, less mature people tend to be focused on gaming more. Because something allows them ignoring adult problems. Be it good salary at some company which had a mispleasure of hiring them, or some rent from some inheritance, or some cash from still-alive parents.
From the other side, modern practices of predatory gaming tend to cater for said semi-sentient gamers more. Because they'll eat anything. Thus, one might save some cash on testing and customer support.
How it manifests at Terraria... honestly, not the worst ♥♥♥♥ I've witnessed.
The most immature community I've ever seen was in World of Tanks - and I had a misfortune of working there. So I can provide an insight that the ♥♥♥♥ was so dire so even some developers themselves were quite deranged.
Either with sheer force of post-moderation or by virtue of NOT attracting the sickest of the sickest (because there's CSGO for the latter), Terraria's community is quite... cozy and wholesome?
Believe me, bile puking at ♥♥♥♥ is my hobby.
If I say that the game is decent and the community is quite adequate, I really mean it. Because I never hesitate to call the devil by his name when I see him (and was banned on multiple occasions for it in other communities for doing exactly this).
yeah, i read some comment sections of terraria reviews and they were really just hate comments, that's my bad i just play games i don't really stay in the communitys of them.
terraria community IS quite cozy, ill give you that but thats comparing the bubonic plague (CSGO) to the cold (terraria), NO community is fully mature.
Lack of legal pursuit for false advertisement made gaming industry a really messy place where indeed it is much easier to buy something, waste refund opportunity time because hey, you can just forget to turn the game off and go make some coffee!, and stay with the game you don't like and can't return.
The only possibility left is to vent in reviews (and at Steam Community).
Screenshots and descriptions on store page (and paid streamers) try to make as many people as possible buy it regardless of if they'll actually like it.
Which ends up in what people without incomplete degree in sales call "review bombing" , complete with heaps of trash on game forums :\
That's for negative reviews, and positive reviews are mostly ASCII arts of Shrek and rants that you CAN pet the dog.
Drat, I'm too talkative today :/
I'm pretty much the only person from back then who checks back in frequently lol. As far as "maturity" goes, this game has always attracted younger people, especially the forums, so maturity is a rare commodity around here.
I doubt you actually hate Terraria that much. If you did you never would have spent so long playing it. What you are is burned out. Take a deep breath and put the game away.
it doesn't matter how much you love a game. You'll eventually get tired of it. That's not the problem though. The problem is that you kept forcing yourself to keep playing it after you were tired of the game. Doing that for long enough will make you hate any game. If you're playing something and you find yourself thinking "why do I still play this?" it's time to take a break.
Just stop for a minute and think about you're saying. You're complaining that game got boring after 2000 hours. I mean yeah? You've played Terraria for 83 DAYS. What did you expect to happen? Probably time to find something different to play don't you think?
There I just saved everyone 5 minutes of their life. Play something else , go outside , get a hobby , if you are this miserable that you felt the need to write a novel about it , just do something , anything else and stop making yourself miserable.
I am also currently bored of elden ring and RDR2 and stuff. But I still plan on playing them again one day. Nothing is supposed to be played all the time.
I have literally played every special seed and obtained every achievement before they started adding more after stating there will be no more content added.
Well actually i have one seed to finish. The all seed world. That was super challenging digging upward and starting in the underworld. A challenge on a whole new level.
Try some special seed worlds if you are bored. Or try an all class run with a class you dont use a lot. Many things to do in one of the highest rated games ever made.
its just a personal opinion and they're are things i like about the game.
Terraria is given way too much credit for what it really is and due to long development time has glaring issues in balance and game design. Lead Developer, Andrew, has shifted update focus from adding meaningful content & reasonable balance changes to crossover content and poop blocks as well as appealing to politics of his choice.
Most of the meaningful additions recently are ideas proposed by the players who are starved for the most standard and logical features by the current days standards. The issue isn't with the game itself, it's with how long it's being worked on for and the developer putting it on a back burner.
Terraria has a unique place in the gaming market as there simply is no other game like it that achieved greater success or is still being worked on.
Starbound came close and could be valid alternative to Terraria but Chucklefish wasn't good enough of a developer to manage project this big.
