Proton deleted all of my Terraria content!!

Steam Deck user here, I was reading up on why my side mouse buttons were not working in the game. I read a discussion that said to run the game through ProtonDB. So I went into properties and enabled the game to be compatible with Proton and I selected the latest Proton version. It installs and I boot up the game and ALL of my content is completely gone. Wiped clean. Characters, worlds, the lot. I'm an idiot and didn't backup any files. Any help on recovering my data would be much appreciated. Thanks

The Proton version just looks in a different location in its compatdata folder; your stuff should still be in the default Linux folder at "~/.local/share/Terraria"
A Proton install should be looking at "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/105600/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Terraria" (I think, can't check now)

I feel like this answer should be pinned, yes its the second answer but its rather useful for people here
