@krd don´t waste your time with handling the Hollowed too, large corrupt and hollowed underground areas will appear and both will wildly spread and become bigger and bigger in hardmode which makes it impossible to purge.
I did this Achievement too and the world was NOT in Hardmode.
Or do you want to tell me the requirements have changed in that short time?
Take a Drill Contaiment Unit and just destroy all walls and blocks so you safe money and it is a easy way too.
Your problem might be that you forget a few single blocks.
Use a Biome Sight Potion to find the remaining ones.
With a Clentaminator you will hardly reach all corrupted tiles, the blocks are just stand in your way and you probably miss some tiles.
With a Drill you will have free access to every corner of the two (or three or four in some cases) corrupted parts of your world.
And you probably want to make a new, small world for that because with the underground areas and the fact that the hollow and the corrupt will quickly spread on almost all blocks it will be almost impossible to clear the whole world.
Thanks for your thoughts. I also though it odd that I cannot do it pre-hardmode because reading about online I didn't see it being mentioned. I assumed, and maybe incorrectly, that they have added this requirement in one of the recent patches.
As for overlooking few blocks you are right, it did happen. I have three crimson areas and there were few blocks in each one of them that I missed. However, when I had hard time finding them all I did a little "cheat" and loaded my current map in one of those online Terraria map viewers that shows you entire map. Then I did filtering and looked for crimson blocks only and that's how I found the ones I was missing before. The last time I checked the map viewer showed no remaining crimson blocks.
