Considering you can already just treat the selection as picking a body shape, which is gender neutral, then the only issue is those few lines of dialogue. Everything else is already gender neutral.
That said, if anyone wishes, I could make a texture pack to remove the few offending lines. Just let me know (just post here asking for such).
EDIT: Spelling.
Honestly look very closely at what each one has , on the "Male" side the 5th option is a trench coat , booty shorts and what looks like heels to me, on the "Female" side the 2nd option is plain pants and a muscle shirt.
I think it's a pretty good variety since you can mix and match any pant and shirt type, Once you are in game,
I think the game devs tried to make things very flexible because they don't want anyone to feel left out and there are mods for more character appearances too. (and awesome people like LT2483 above)
Just think of the "male" "female" as Mars and Venus symbols to denote clothing because that is mostly what they do. Your characters gender or lackthere of is completely up to you and you can wear any clothes you want, don't let a UI element hold you back or feel bad.
i know you mean well, but for some people such as me and also some of the community this would mean a great deal
I understand that OP wants enby in terraria, but like the others said, you can experiment

Thank you so much!!
I am polygender so you could say both.
Actually, Gender fluid changes, poly gender is simultaneous. Obvious difference.
Now I am actually just curious here but what is the difference between polygender & hermaphrodites?
Never heard of polygender before but, from the short description you just gave I don't quite see what the difference is between the two.
Is polygender only something a person identifies as & not a reflection of a notable physical Hermaphroditus characteristic (such as having both genitalia)?
