Palladin (hardmode) - NO DROP
I've killed about 20 palladins, but they did not drop any items (only money). Version 1.3.0.8

You're just unlucky.

try more, palladins have a VERY rare chance to drop a palladins hammer

The Paladin Hammer is a 1/15 drop and the shield is 1/10, not that rare compared to many other items.

But palladins themselves are rare, so the drop rates make their items fairly rare. Wouldn't say very rare, of course.

We're not talking about the rarity of paladins, he said palidans have a very rare chance to drop the hammer, which means the item is dropped rarely when you find paladins, not how rare the items are. Anyways the point is the items have a drop chance of 1/15 and 1/10 and the OP hasn't got a single one after 20 paladin kills, which is just extremely bad luck since statistically he should have gotten at least 1 hammer and 2 shields.

RNGesus cares nothing for your statistics.

At least RNGesus loves me in Hearthstone, probably the most RNG based card game.

What he said is objectively wrong yes, I just wouldn't be surprised if he really meant it in the way I explained and just worded it poorly.

When you said 'compared to other items it isn't rare', it sounded like you meant overall rarity and not just droprate. But yeah, OP is just unlucky at this point.

"I killed [x] [enemy] and I didn't get [item], when it says I should've only needed to kill [y] of [enemy] to get [item]!"

Heard it so many times. Probably said it a few times, too, but I can't remember. This is hardly a rare complaint, and, more importantly, one founded in flawed logic. Let me explain.

We'll use your Paladin as an example. You have a 1 in 10 chance of getting a Paladin's Shield from killing one. So you go out, and you kill one. From here, two things can happen:
  1. You get it on your first go. Congratulations, you're one of the lucky few.
  2. You don't get it on your first go. Welcome to the club.

So if you didn't get it, that means the next Paladin has a 1 in 9 chance to drop the Shield, right? And if you did get it, you'd have to kill 9 more before you have a chance for one to drop again? Nope. The next Paladin doesn't care about what the previous one did or did not drop, so you still have that 1 in 10 chance of getting a Paladin's Shield.

That's called the gamblers fallacy; assuming your odds at a chance occurence increase with each unsuccessful attemp.

I do like how banner aquisition plays into that expectation, as it is a more fair way for things to work, and I wish most other drops would work a similar way. Either gauranteed after a certain number of kills, or with increasing chance per kill until it drops.

Ok, so normallyi would agree that it's just bad luck. But im now at two paladin banners (so over 100 paladins killed) and i still don't have a shield. So maybe there is a bug?
