its happend to me
What he said is objectively wrong yes, I just wouldn't be surprised if he really meant it in the way I explained and just worded it poorly.
When you said 'compared to other items it isn't rare', it sounded like you meant overall rarity and not just droprate. But yeah, OP is just unlucky at this point.
Heard it so many times. Probably said it a few times, too, but I can't remember. This is hardly a rare complaint, and, more importantly, one founded in flawed logic. Let me explain.
We'll use your Paladin as an example. You have a 1 in 10 chance of getting a Paladin's Shield from killing one. So you go out, and you kill one. From here, two things can happen:
So if you didn't get it, that means the next Paladin has a 1 in 9 chance to drop the Shield, right? And if you did get it, you'd have to kill 9 more before you have a chance for one to drop again? Nope. The next Paladin doesn't care about what the previous one did or did not drop, so you still have that 1 in 10 chance of getting a Paladin's Shield.
I do like how banner aquisition plays into that expectation, as it is a more fair way for things to work, and I wish most other drops would work a similar way. Either gauranteed after a certain number of kills, or with increasing chance per kill until it drops.
