Crimson or Corruption
Ok so the deal is I don't use ranged weapons much and I've decided to finally do a ranged playthrough. In all my 800+ hours I haven't played a ranged run at all, ha, what can I say, I just find guns and bows not as fun as magic and other classes. Anyway I know what I want for melee, magic, and summoning but I don't know what biome is best for the way of the ranger, thanks. =)

I'd think you'd be able to get the Stormbow on Hardmode, from the Hallow, so I'd go for Corruption if Expert, as it'd have the Worm Scarf.

I'd second Corruption if you plan on using just guns. If you plan on using arrows at all, I'd advise taking the Crimson for Ichor Arrows, as they're significantly stronger than the Cursed Inferno Arrows.

Ok then, thanks for the response. I think I'll wait and see if anyone else reponds with extra points that would help. I figured that there might have been some good ranged weapons that Crimsion has that Corruption doesn't or the other way around.

Hmm... I forgot about ichor. There are ichor bullets too now that I think about it so I might go with crimson. I sometimes have two worlds per character so I'll make a corruption expert world and normal crimson world.

Crystal Bullets are stronger overall than the Ichor Bullets, hence why I said that you should only choose Crimson if you want to use Bows at all.

having done an archer playthrough myself recently, I too would recommend the corruption for your playthrough. Ichor arrows are nice, but the worm scarf is still better in my opinion overall. I myself preferred the higher base damage, velocity, and cheapness of venom arrows as my main arrows of choice too, and didn't really miss ichor all that much.
As for bullets, like everyone else said crystal bullets are some of the best bullets in the game, which gives little reason to choose crimson...

TLDR: Depends on how much you value the ichor status effect before making your decision.Everything else is a moot point, as most of the best ranged weapons are from outside the "evil" biomes. (Tsunami, Chlorophyte shotbow, Daedalus Stormbow... Megashark, venus blaster, phoenix blaster...)

I think the musket is also a bit better for right in the beginning, low rate of fire with more damage means less bullets consumed and higher damage to bosses and armored enemies.

Ok well corruption it is. Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to start my run in a little bit. I'm making and destroying worlds until I find a good one.

I disagree on this point. It's a tossup between both of the guns. I personally think they're both worthless once you beat skeletron. While it's true musket uses less ammo, you can usually fire ~3 shots with the undertaker which will outdamage the musket. Musket balls are extremely cheap, so "saving ammo" isn't really a huge point especially considering that expert mode will make it easier for you to get money.

Still, both the musket and undertaker are "just fine" and shouldn't sway between choosing evil biome.
I think in the end it depends on how much you value cursed/ichor bullets/arrwos.
