But which one lasts longer in hardmode and still remain useful ? Arkhalis or night edge? By the way I have bonus melee damage on my set.

Night's edge by far. The rapid swing won't be useful if it only does 1-10 damage to the mobs with higher defense. Not to mention you can upgrade the night's edge later in the game. P.S. I know the true night's edge and terra blade aren't that good but if you do manage to get it with in the time frame it is useful that would be cool and stuff.

The strongest sword in pre-hardmode is the Night's Edge. While the Arkhalis may be cool, it does extremely low damage compared to the NE.

Necro much? Anyway, besides necroing I agree with you. The arkhalis does have a higher dps though. The reason the NE is better is because in hardmode the defense of more powerful monsters makes the arkhalis less useful while higher defense doesn't keep NE from doing damage.
