No monsters at night

So recently I've been playing a lot more than I usually would, and I've noticed that I've been getting literally no monsters at night. I get slimes during the day like normal but no zombies or demon eyes or anything spawn at night. I haven't changed anything in my settings and as far as I'm aware I don't have any items that might stop things from spawning (especially as I'm still a complete noob and have only just gotten copper armour even after 6 hours of gameplay) so is this a bug of some sort? I had issues with the game previously where no NPC's were coming to my world but that sorted itself out. If this is a bug is here any way to fix it? Or do I have to wait for an update or something?

When 3 or more town NPCs, or the Skeleton Merchant are present nearby, no enemies will spawn. from the wiki

I'm having the same problem across all my worlds. I don't have any mods installed. Did you find a fix yet?

The area isn't lit up, theres no walls apart from in my house and it's not near my spawn point. There used to be a tonne of monsters at night but now there's none.

Maybe check around for sunflowers? I know they decrease spawn rate as I have some in my arena to help with mob control.
