I work in a Programing Industrie and getting ideas It doesn`t come quick or easy it is hard making a game or bringing new stuff to the table give the people some credit
My point is that you can't play a propper "pure summoner" build. I've completed Terraria by other three classes, playing by "only my class weapons", with very occasional "use wooden sword to kill Slimes for Gel". It's doable even by Warrior, who is awful at killing bosses.
But not by Summoner. Not only your first weapon is either "1 in 7000 drop chance" or a "fish a pickaxe, cheese your way to the Underworld" (which shouldn't happen, that way I don't follow the main "progression curve"). Armor choice is small, accessories are... okay, I guess. Yes, you can use summons while playing another class, say Mage. But good luck trying a "pure class" playthrough.
I mean, considering how you get upset for me having a different opinion on the situation, I doubt you could do much better than me.
Wha-
Making a new game isn't the same as making an update to a long-running game, though. Plus, the dev team (despite it changing quite a lot) did a great job on the past several updates. That's what makes v1.4 so disappointing to me personally, and the fact that it's been the longest wait for any Terraria update...
Oh and btw, I'm not responding to anything you say after this, so have fun ranting with people when it doesn't matter.
Well there is still bewitching table and summoning potion, but you are right
I'd make the slime and finch staff craftable for one. It's ridiculous that such low tier weapons are so rare. I'd also make that whip the zoologist sells available first thing when she shows up so you have a "summon" weapon that much quicker. Since the devs don't want you touching the imp staff until near the end of prehardmode, maybe add a harpy staff that can be crafted with harpy feathers, wood, and clouds that has decent speed, range, and piercing so it can actually keep up with and kill queen bee.
Killing either gives you access to pickaxes capable of mining hellstone, and from there you can just do pre hardmode summoner like always.
@Dr. Neurax
Yes you can in fact, it's currently the best weapon for killing it in my opinion.
Combined with jester arrows and bombs it took me just a few minutes
