"The Angler has left..."

I'm not sure what I'm doing to upset him so much, made a nice little house by the ocean for him and he left, thought maybe he was too lonely and gave him a neighbour. Yet he still left after just a day. I'm not sure if it's a bug or if he has a specific requirement, he says finally he can be alone with the fish in the ocean and seems happy. Anyone have any ideas? I do a lot of fishing early game so I would like to do some of the quests.

Is he falling and getting stuck in the ocean? NPC's can drown. Otherwise he's too close to crimson/corruption or he is getting killed by monsters.

That's his "death" message, he should respawn.
There's something killing him worth looking into, though.

Looking into what could be killing him, theres no door on the ocean side and its not near anything dangerous as far as I can tell. No ideas, maybe I'll build him a little tree house and keep him off the ground.

Same thing happens to me, I made him a little house next to/on the ocean and i see these mesages again and again... "Angler has left." "Angler has arrived" I am tired of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥..

I saw it, a mummy is coming and hitting him and because of the knock back it throws him into ocean and because of the wall of tha house I made for him he is drowning...it kinda hilarious tbh..
