Gem Trees.

I planted an amythest tree a while ago and it didnt grow yet, does it take a while or does it need to be underground or something?

It apparently needs to be underground. Not sure if it needs a certain amount of space above it like trees do, though.

plant them underground, give enough height for them to grow. I planted a load already in my underground town and they have grown.

Whats the point anyway? I thought they would drop gems when harvested, but if I am lucky, i just get the gem acorn back, nothing else... Not even a new cool wood type :S

wow that's really dumb. I was under the assumption I could farm more amethyst as well but if this is true then it's a waste of time.

They do drop gems when you chop them down, just not all all the time. It's mainly the stone and acorn you get from them.
