Try fishing. It's really useful once you get some crates!
You get so much ore and bars from fishing :)

first of all, if you have been digging for that much, you must have passed ALOT of stuff, also, this game isnt all digging, also, zoom? rlly? we dont need that, limited vision make the game hard and fun. not only that but watch a few vid of ppl that know what their doing and u will know why this game is so grea. P.S. chill out bro

What is zooming such a huge complaint from starbound players? I've been to the their forums and they shoot terraria down sometimes purely for not having the feature. Anyway, you were probably digging to shallow or just wandering through pre-dug caves. There's loads of stuff to find but ores won't be as common as in starbound.

Swearing isn't going to change the game,

The main goal of Terraria is to kill bosses, start with Eye of Cthuhlu. You're going to need 6 lens. And bring them to a Demon Altar.

The beginning of Terraria is slow, but once you get to Hardmode it becomes better.

How about you talk to the Guide? Who tells you what to do in the game, and tells you what kind of things you should've been looking for when you were digging for 4 hours.

This is honestly sad. Starting the game out by digging for 4 hours isn't a good idea. Even if you did, you would've passed many valuable things.
