For me it was actually impossible. I flattened out the area in front of my base and hadnt made a bed. 6-7 sorcerers and a few smaller goblins wandered around, evenyl split each side and firing Chaos Bolts in this really even spread out pattern.
I only just managed to win the Goblin army now, after nearky 50 countable deaths(individual gravestones) and nearly an hour plus of grinding and being unable to leave.
How do the devs not consdier this at all? Awful game design, I nearly abandoned and deleted my save game from that nonsense.
And to top it off, no loot at all and almost all my gold I was carrying is gone.
Well I just slam keys, it seems to make the respawn screen go away faster since it seems to stick around for an incredible period of time.
Fair, I just wanted something new since I had already gotten to the Hallow tech stage like...3 years ago.
Any fast weapon can attack and destroy the spell orbs at the same time.
Depending on area: Run / dig down / make makeshift bunker , smash occasional bolts coming your way with your copper pickaxe.
Get your gear safely that way then dig further or run away untill you are out of event's range.
Reequip your gear and go murder some goblins.
And for future prepare your base accordingly so you dont get swarmed so easily or dont go above 180 hp untill you are ready.
That doesn't make sense to me!
I'd suggest you leave your items there for a bit. Run away. Rebuild with better armor or weapons. Return and defeat them.
That is a strategy you may need to employ when playing games where you lose your items.
I even had to do it in Everquest when I couldn't find my corpse! Just count it as a loss, take the loss to the items, and rebuild.
at least their drops (harpoon, spiky balls) are worth it...
As for expert, it's really not that bad. Classic difficulty is way too easy IMO, and this is coming from someone who use to be so lazy that I face tanked every boss and barely dodged anything. Expert is definitely worth the challenge to me, since it makes certain bosses like the destroyer more risky to fight. Destroyer can melt half of your HP bar with his head attack, whereas there is no massive head multiplier in classic mode (hence why I could face tank him and win).
