I'm new to terraria and I've never seen a bloodmoon in my world, but the last time I played, I went through an entire night without seeing any enemies. is this normal?

The Blood Moon is announced in the lower left in green text like this, "The Blood Moon is rising..." Also, about seeing no enemies, uhh, I can't remember a time in Terraria when I have never seen an enemy at any time of the day.

The Blood Moon has a 1/9 chance of occuring on any night there is not a New Moon when a player has over 120HP

As far as I am concerned, each night has 1/9 chance to be Blood Moon when you have 120 or more health. About seeing no enemies, sometimes there are nights that there are no zombies, but it is quite strange.

In all my time of playing Terraria, I have never once not seen an enemy at night, or any other time of day.

Me too, but recently this happened to me. I still don't know why, but it happened. I didn't went far from my home, though. But the zombies and the other monsters usually come to you.

The only criteria I can think of that would cause no enemies to spawn at all would be this, 1) Be on Normal. 2) Have it be night. 3) Have a lot of NPC's living in houses nearby. 4) Never leave this area.

npc's slow spawn rate plus having a tone of bunny's and stuff around your position count's as monster's i think.

Nah mate

I've had "No enemies nearby" during a Solar Eclipse several times

mind you, I had the Phantasm (Unreal) and was firing where I knew the monsters would spawn :P

The blood moon has a 1/10 chance of rising. If the calculations spits out yes, it checks to see if the moon is a new moon, if it is a new moon then there is no blood moon, if there is not a new moon the blood moon will rise.
