A party! Wait... what?

So... this morning, completely from the blue, every NPC threw confetti and put on party hats. Not even joking. Everyone was talking about the party, but I got when other players joined my server, they couldn't see it. I took loads of screenshots and snapshots, then restarted my game. When I rejoined, everything was normal again. Is this just a random event, or a glitch in my game, or had I fallen into a Terraria-based hallucination?
