How to enjoy this game in Singleplayer mode?
Right... as the title suggests, how do you actually enjoy this game in Singleplayer mode? I have no idea what's wrong with me and this game but it's just... eh. It feels lifeless. Boring if you put it in a harsher way. Am I doing wrong or what?
For reference, I'm playing on Softcore mode and right now I'm at the Dungeon and if my memory serves correct, I haven't beat The Eye of Cthulhu.

inb4 "play multiplayer"
I haven't finished any single playthrough playing Terraria, and I would prefer to play this game alone until I could finally reach the end game. Besides, I don't have much friends that I could invite with to play the game, timezone issues.

So back to my questions, I felt bored playing this game in SP mode even though I really to finish it. Any suggestions? Should I
  • Stop playing Solo and play Multiplayer instead? or
  • Increase the difficulty so it's harder? Because harder = more fun am I right?

Call me a ♥♥♥♥♥ because I absolutely have no idea what's wrong with me.

Believe it or not, I restarted my playthrough multiple times until I got sick of it.

I'll look into it when I have a slight motivation to play.

watch videos of terraria playthroughs on youtube, try restricting yourself to 1 class. That make it fun

The early game is by far the most boring part of the game, IMO. Go to the underworld and fight the boss that resides there to get into the good stuff.

Try playing with mods, or just keep going until you get to the good parts (Right after the Underworld boss)

I started on medium as even though the frustration killed me the final result was great and you actually had to care to not die, I would say that you should start on a medium world and don't give up, it only gets better!

So basically... If i'm correct...
"I'm still in the tutorial part of the game, haven't defeated a single boss, and am already saying the game is boring."
Yes, the early game is slow. However, turning up the difficulty at that point won't make the game any more fun, just more frustratingly boring. The majority of the game's fun content is in Hard mode, which is a progression thing, not a setting. Trust me, you'll know when you get to it.
This game gets amazingly fun once you get to the later parts, but you have to get through some rather boring grinding and slow as hell mining to get there.

At the current state of the game, I'd basically say that everything before the WoF is pretty much a long tutorial teaching you about the different biomes and game mechanics. Once you beat the WoF, is when everything really opens up. It gets both easier and harder at the same time - you get the freedom to easily move around the world, progressing pretty much however you like, but the individual parts of the game, the boss' mechanics, your expected skill level and overall capabilities, etc. get harder.

I wouldn't recommend switching to expert mode if you're finding the game boring because it takes too long to be able to do anything, because it'll simply make that feeling even greater in the early game, particularly if you don't actually have any real experience with the game. (which trust me, you don't, if you haven't gotten to hard mode, let alone the celestial events.)

Wowie, that's a lot of words.

So I just need to live through the slow pace in the early game until I could go to the Hard mode which where the game shines? Fair enough, I'll try to continue playing if I could.
Thanks for everyone here who tried to conviced me.

Cheers.

If u are bored playing this game is because this game is not for u. Try another game.

Perhaps, but I'd rather not thinking it that way. People praised this game a lot so I wanted to know the reason why.

Besides, I don't want to my waste my money on games I barely touched.

In my experience this is a great game, i have 800+ h, i like it very much. Try to make a town. Explore the Dungeon. Kill the Queen Bee. Defeat the King Slime. Destroy the Wall of Flesh. Make some Wings. Get mote than 100 in defense. Get 500 life points. Fish a lot. Run for the Duke. Etc.

This game is extremely fun, even though certain parts can be a bit grindy.
Easy ways to make it more fun:
1.Limit yourself to a certain 'class'. Basically, only use one damage type. Starting with Ranged or Magic is easiest in my opinion.
2. Do 'challenges'. Don't go to the surface until Hardmode, get every item, etc.

Harder ways to make it more fun:
1. Mods. Can be kinda complicated to install, but really fun. Thorium is my favorite.
2. Increase the Difficulty. Try playing on Hard-Core, where dieing is permanent, and deletes the character. Fun if you like challenges.

Using Tmodloader is easy for install mod.
