Tactical shotgun with chorophite bullets or possessed hatchet?

i heard that the tactical shotgun with chorophite bullets shreds duke fishron. but i have the most defensive armor i can get right now (beetle), like 7 buffs, a heart lantern and a campfire and i can't beat him. i really need to optimize so i need to know, which is better? both aim for you, the possessed hatched seems to have faster speed but i think the damage is lower. i don't know how gun damage is determined so i can't tell if the shotgun is better or not. i don't have anything to go on here so i'm in the dark.

Gun damage is determined from ranged bonuses, so if you opt to use the Tactical Shotgun, wear Shroomite armor. Beetle armor and a Possessed Hatchet is more than enough to beat him; either you're not fighting him properly, or you don't have great accessories. Info on your loadout and strategy would be helpful.

my arena is asphalt doming the ocean and just a small line of asphalt outside of water. i know he becomes enraged if he leaves the biome. my loadout is tactical shotgun or possessed hatchet depending on which is better, beetle armor with shell, warding charm of myths, warding obsidian shield, arcane hover board (still trying to turn that into a warding one), menacing flying carpet, and intrepid lightning boots. all together that gives me 83 defense total. as mentioned before i have a camp fire and heart lantern. i'm also using the twins summon. i assume i just suck at the game. i hear the lunatic cultist isn't as hard as duke fishron but i don't know if the moon lord despawns if i die fighting him and i know i can't beat the moon lord.

I recommend the Xenopopper if you can get it. It is dropped by the giant UFO in the Martian Madness event. It's like the tactical shotgun but a more powerful, yet delayed, version.

All right, you got some pretty good items here. I would replace the Flying Carpet with the Cross Necklace or Star Veil to gives you some time to avoid him. In his first phase, he always dashes five times, then spews bubbles. Another five dashes, then he summons Sharknadoes. Repeat. In his second phase, he charges three times and then does a bubble spin. Another three charges, then summons a large Cthulhunado. Repeat.
I personally don't need asphalt. I just build two platforms; one on the surface, one in the middle-depth of the ocean. Using a Flipper Potion essentially gives you more room to evade his attacks.

i once triggered the martian madness event by accident with almost the same gear i have now. took me an hour and a half to beat it. but thanks for the suggestion. i'm just gonna make a new world and beat golem and see how hard the lunatic cultist is. maybe with lunar fragment armor i can beat fishron.

You can't make armor out of just the fragments. You need Luminite Bars, which requires beating the Moon Lord. So stay with this world, you already have plenty to work with.

A tip for Martian Madness Event, dig a hole so you can see the surface still and dig horizontally in any direction. Then, cover the hole with ONE block so you can stick a yoyo between the blocks to hit things on the surface. There are no monsters that travel through walls so you will be safe in your bunker you made. A yoyo is required, it's what i do and I never die.

you just saved me an hour fighting the lunar events the cultist and then trying to figure out why i can't craft the armor.
