3 compact designs pictured at bottom. Can no longer fit all stations into a small spot though unless you ignore the specialty craft stations.
I usually end up with something like this:

I've spent some time figuring out how to build the most compact crafting station and here's what I've got:
Crafting window
Notice that standing in a central point I can craft:
- Walls
- Advanced furniture
- Silk
- Accessories
- Flasks
- Potion (with alchemy lab)
- Weapon/armour
- Smelt ore
- Glasses
- Watches
- Dyes
- Food
- Ale
- Bottled water
- Bottled honey
It's basically all the general crafting recipes pre hard-mode (without specialized ones like honey furniture) and there even is some space for lava and 3x3 hardcore crafting station. For other two crafting stations I can replace Bookshelf and keg - they're not used that frequently.
Here's the crafting station layout:

The general rule is: the tallest ones go up and down and the widest ones - to the sides as a single block of craftind station is sufficient for crafting. And the table is a special case.
I think that this design can be improved, i.e. the most compact liquid reservoire is one shaped like an upside down pyramid.
Would be glad to hear your suggestions
