Rich Mahogany Wood is grown on Jungle Grass covered mud, but doesn't require acorns. The trees do, however, compete with undergrowth, so some people flood the area to prevent the smaller plants from growing, while still allowing trees to spawn. Jungle trees do not drop acorns.
Regular wood is grown by placing acorns on grass-covered dirt.
Boreal wood is grown by planting acorns on snow.
Ebonwood is grown by planting acorns on Corruption-covered dirt. Corrupt Trees do not drop acorns.
Shadewood is grown by planting acorns on Crimson-covered dirt. Crimson Trees do not drop acorns.
Pearl Wood is grown by planting acorns on Hallow-covered dirt.
Palm wood is grown by planting acorns on sand.
Living wood cannot be grown. It must be placed with a Living Wood Wand.
Giant Glowing Mushrooms sometimes spawn with enough room on mushroom-covered mud.
