But to answer your question, yes, it will drop pre-hardmode.
Uh no. The subtle difference between hardmode and hardcore has confused countless noobs, including myself when I first started. It will continue to happen as long as people keep calling it hardcore when they really ought to be saying hardmode.
Even if you go out of your way to say hardmode, newer players who haven't heard the term still confuse it with hardcore. If you keep calling it hardcore, it only worsens the confusion, and your lack of the distinction still confuses veteran players.
When I first answered your thread, I had to assume you meant hardmode in my answer.
No, they most definitely will not, and it's that attitude that unfortunately confuses players. Many of us have been there; it's an understandable mistake to make.
Anywho, good luck with the Jellyfish Necklace drop.
So wire it to a timer instead? You could also hook dart traps up to the same circuit, if you don't want to use lava. I got 3 necklaces in a half hour, that way.
Better yet, wire it to 3 1-second timers and the statue will spawn 3 jellyfish at a time.
