You do lose your character(s) and world(s) when you re-install the game. Luckily, you can make bac-ups fairly easily by going to Windows Explorer and either dragging or copying your Terraria folder to a different location. I recommend creating a back-up somewhere outside of your PC, like on a CD or flash drive, so that if something happens to your PC then nothing will happen to your Terraria back-up.

thank you but is there a spesific file for your saves /characters
Oii Aug 2, 2014 @ 10:13pm
it didnt work my world is still bugged
Fawful Aug 2, 2014 @ 10:17pm
Each character/world has its own file, and in the case of worlds (at least) each world has an additional backup file. As Endymion said, there is a folder that contains all of these things; copy-paste to save your stuff!

Go to:
C:/Users/(your user name)/Documents/My Games/Terraria

From there, you can go to your Players folder or your Worlds folder. I just copy/move the entire Terraria folder whenever I want to make a back-up, though.

That's sort of a separate issue. You should make a separate thread for it. Or change the title of this thread.

This has something to do with Xna. I don't have this problem so I don't know how to fix it, but apparently a lot of people do have the same problem or a very similar one with their xna.

Unfortunately right now there is not a lot of forum activity...I don't know what time it is in UT but if you bump thread about 9 hours from now you might have better luck getting a solution from someone.
Oii Aug 2, 2014 @ 10:39pm
first of all whats a xna second of all what do you mean bump a thread?????

This is all I can do for you. Like I said in my previous post, you should wait for someone else who is more familiar with this kind of problem to post something. In the meantime, you can look up "Xna" in a Google browser to get more information.

You type BUMP and then post it. Doing this is not usually very appreciable but sometimes it can be done for an acceptable reason. Like maybe now. Just try not to do it too often.

If you do not remove the actual game file folder, you should be able to still use it.
