Should being the operative word there.
Go to your Terraria folder, then your Worlds folder, right-click on the world that has been corrupted, and click on Restore Previous version in the menu that shows up.
If THAT doesn't work, then find the corrupted world's duplicate - the one with the ".wld.bak" extension, and take out the ".bak" part. The file should then be useable.
Being on a laptop doesn't change your file directories; having a different Operating System does, but the directories are almost always identical between versions of Windows.
