well i might be wrong about this im going with a hunch but im guessing beetle because its made of the turtle armor so that is what i think it is.

but you get more melee damage from the turtle armour. unless you dont have the shell on

The offensive bettle set grants a higher damage output than the turtle armor, but has lower defense than the turtle armor. The bettle shell has high higher defense, but at the cost of raw damage.

Either way, the set bonus alongside the stats kind of makes bettle armor better than turtle. It really depends on what you're looking for.

If you're trying to get raw DPS, the Beetle Armor w/ Scale Mail is better than the Turtle Armor. If you're going for unmatched defense, Beetle Armor w/ Shell performs better. Neither, however, reflects melee damage taken back at what dished it out, and the Turtle Armor strikes a nice balance between offense and defense when compared to either set of Beetle Armor.

That's pretty true. At first, I personally missed having the set bonus from turtle armor, but I got over that pretty quickly with the defensive set bonus.

i currently have 85 defence with the beetle armour which is 8 better than the turtle armour for me

It's worth noting the defensive bettle set bonus also offers extra damage reduction alongside the immense raw defense. But on the flip side, the offensive set grants higher damage and swing speed with the set bonus along with the stats on the armor.

You were right the first time. :P Armor is the American version. Us Brits use Armour. (although I never use that because I think it looks weird - I'm kinda used to some of the American spellings, ... thank you, Internet.)

Anywho, I choose Beetle. I think Turtle is good for specific things, like killing the Dungeon Guardian.

Well, higher DPS for as long as whatever slugfest you've gotten yourself into lasts. Works great with either of the two Moon events because of that.

I recently noticed a funny thing regarding those kinds of armours:

I usually use the defensive Beetle set with my main character, but recently I built myself an AFK monster farm. Unfortunately, it turned out that wraiths (and reapers at an eclipse) could still penetrate it and killed me easily... Until I switched back to the Turtle set. The damage reflection bonus it offers effectively made my farm fully survivable, no matter what event takes place.

So my verdict is the following: It's situational. There are times when Beetle is better as well as times where Turtle is.

A good balance is hard to get. As many others mentioned before: It's situational. I prefer the beetle armor w/ scale mail, because with this armor I can put down every boss and survive til the last wave in pumpkin moon. (Didn't tried the frost moon yet.)

If u play often multiplayer with friends the armor w/ beetle shell would be better cause the other player take enemies down while the enemy is focused and u without having the chance to kill u. ^.^

Say, what build have you got going? I haven't been able to breach Wave 15 on the Pumpkin Moon yet.

Well I use:
-Beetle Armor w/ Scale Mail
-Menacing Celestial Stone
-Violent Fire Gauntlet
-Violent Star Veil
-Violent Destroyer Emblem
-Spooky Wings (I'm trying hard to get the Fishron Wings but damn...Duke never drops them T.T xD)

Weapons:
-Primary: Godly Flairon
-Second: Legendary Vampire Knives (for a quick heal while taking down the enemies) :claugh:
