This is not a valid housing.
Okay. This is frustrating me a lot because I refuse to continue on in my new world until I can get this darn house working. I don't know what's wrong with it. It's made of blue dungeon bricks, blue slab walls, a blue dungeon door and some blue dungeon lighting. Basically, I want a dungeon-themed house for my Clothier. It has a chair, a sofa, a table and a bookcase... but it's not a valid housing.

I tried making the ceiling different, because I wanted to go for the natural look of blending in with the terrain. I thought a natural dirt ceiling was the problem, so I replaced it with more bricks. Still not working. I tried using real torches, and made sure there was more room in the house. Nothing. I tried remodeling, relocating and rebuilding the house entirely in different areas around the center of the world, and it's still not a valid housing.

I don't understand. I've made multiple houses before with pink dungeon bricks, but is there a problem with the blue one? I tried getting rid of the back door, heck, I tried making a simple box with background walls to see if it would tell me that the house needs a chair, lighting, etc. But it's not a valid gosh darn housing.

I seriously need some help here. Any advice is appreciated, because I really wanna continue with this character and world. Here's a screenshot for reference.

This is bothering me more than it should. I am dumbfounded.

There's three things that come to mind:

1. The house is too big. (not likely)

2. Dungeon walls maybe don't work for houses. (can't say I've tried this myself, but it's possible, maybe?)

3. Those lights won't work for a valid house. (some lights don't work, dunno if those do)

Try regular walls and regular torches, and see if that makes a difference. Try one at a time, to find out what it was.

GL!

EDIT:

Forget the first, as apparently, since 1.0.6, dungeon walls are acceptable for "safe housing".

From what I see, slime, it has a table, a chair, and is big enough, with lights... I'm just thinking those dungeon lights may not be valid.

EDIT

I just built a house using dungeon bricks, and green tile dungeon walls, with a dungeon chair, a dungeon workbench, and the same doors as you have; it worked, but the main difference is that I used regular torches.

I tried the lighting idea. I replaced every dungeon light source with a regular torch, and no dice. Not surprised either, as lanterns and dungeon lights worked as lightings for my pink dungeon house in another world.

Oh, damn. >.< I'm quite curious, now... I'll have a fiddle and see if I can recreate this.

There's only one thing I can think of, now... you maybe missed a lil bit of wall, especially if there's a natural wall there already. As far as I know, you cannot build houses with a natural wall. (a wall not placed by the player) So, tear down the wall, make sure you get every little bit (Ctrl for smart cursor can help) and then build it back up.

If that doesn't work, try making the ceiling a little lower.

OMG, I'm so blonde. It's the dirt... because it's natural. >.> Ditch the dirt and build the bricks yourself. xD Sorry, I shoulda seen that sooner.

Hmm. I got rid of the grass and dirt walls around the corners of the structure, and it just ain't working. Like I said, I tried rebuilding this in other areas, without any natural walls. I wonder if the game just doesn't like blue bricks...

Oh, right, yeah, sorry, I missed that. This is baffling. I just tried it as well, and it still worked. It's not the blue bricks, because I'm trying that now and it works. :|
hey

Very strange. I replaced the grass blocks with more bricks, and this time I made sure to leave nothing behind... so what's wrong here? I've had much larger underground structures made of the pink bricks, and they worked just fine.

I'm vexed, to say the least... staring at this picture, ... coming up empty. >.<

'o.O Slime, that's rude.. simply unsubscribe.

I'm not sure that this is the case, but there might be natural walls there near the top that are invalidiating the house.

Probably not it, but I can't think of anything else.

Have you tried remaking this house anywhere other than where you've already got it?

Indeed. I actually just remade it into a fair-sized floating box in the sky. Just as big as any house... but it's invalid. I may just have to skip this theme and make it out of something else entirely.

It's so weird, because I used the same as you, even with dirt, and it still worked. :\ I just tried it nice and tall, and still worked.

I tried that, even getting rid of the backgrounds behind the dirt blocks.
I just replaced the blue slab wall with a white dynasty wall and it works :|
So what's the deal with blue slab walls if they're player-placed?
