Martians not spawning
There's a "cleared" bar when I spawn, but it disappears after a while. The ufos are in the bacakground but there are no martians spawning. The rain-weather enemies are spawning just fine.

where is your spawn?
Arshuando Oct 3, 2016 @ 9:11am
because there could be a glitch where they only spawn in the middle of the map it has happened to me before

The default player spawn is far right of my bed. I fought them in my arena flawlessly the first time, but this second time is not working out. They ONLY spawn when I'm at the default player spawn point or in my spawn room.
:/ I didn't spend days on an arena just to not use it.

It's actually not a glitch. Any invasion style event like the Martians, or the Goblin army only swarm the default spawn.

But the first time I fought them was way off my default spawn. And all other invasions work outside that spawn too.

"Once triggered, the status message "Martians are invading!" appears, and UFOs start flying in the background; though Martian Madness enemies will not actually begin spawning until the player is located back at their spawn point."
(From http://terraria.gamepedia.com/Martian_Madness )

If its a glitch to fight them elsewhere, I hope it keeps happening. I don't like the default spawn because there's holes in the ground where enemies will spawn - out of reach and wasting time. I like for them to burn in traps & lava while I fight the flying boss (like Pumpkin Moon waves).

"Note that invasions seem to require that at least one NPC is nearby; if an invasion's progress bar disappears beyond a certain distance, it may be necessary to place a house near the area."
Seems as though I am wrong, that was changed at some point to this being the only requirement, aside from the usual criteria for specific invasions.

NightGamer, I hope you're right. I recall the NPCs all being slain easily from the first of the martians. 16% cleared and then this problemed happened - the same time all my NPCs were killed. I guess I have to work on making the houses safer.

I went back to my set spawn (arena), and made safer NPC houses. The martians attacked from start to finish. I guess it DOES require NPCs to live nearby. Thanks.:steammocking:
