OMG why are Goldfish so hard to get??

I haven't done a full starting over run for a while now, and I just beat the mechanical bosses. I didn't know goldfish was a requirement for the Neptune's Shell. So I backtracked to a statue I found a long time ago. Except I forgot that you can't get critters from statues anymore. Fortunately, while trying to force them to spawn in a nearby lake, it started raining. Yet WALKING GOLDFISH DON'T SPAWN DURING RAIN ANYMORE? I've seriously been running back and forth for "hours" (game clock, not realtime) now and haven't seen even a single one! I use to have so many they'd constantly walk into my lava moat! I didn't even need a statue they were so easy to get! Now I'm lucky if I see one every half hour!

EDIT: And now I just wasted two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours because it can't be crafted in the PC version anymore, it's a drop.

xD i had this Problem too when i needed the Neptune's Shell xD
Just started farming items and then i saw that its a drop ._.

Its hard to get cuz its a random drop and there is a chance that it will not drop for ever even if it was at 99% drop rate.

I think the item is quiet easy to get xD In one Suneclipse i get more than 5 of these i think ._.!

Goldfish are not random drops. They are random spawns.

I've beaten all three mechanical bosses and haven't gotten a single eclipse. And you can't get solar tablets until you beat plantera.

i know xD But my Charakter beated the golem and plantera already x)
(i played with a friend but i did the farming and most of the fighting xD)

I haven't seen that many monsters in general in my over 1,000 hours of Terraria, and if you did, I somehow doubt your computer could handle that level of generators for Goldfish during a rain event. Hell, I'm not sure a computer fit for CS:GO at a high-quality frame rate could possibly handle that many goldfish.
