Personally, I kinda thought of the various worlds of Terraria to be multiple linked worlds across multiple universes or dimensions and that your character had the ability to travel between these endless numbers of worlds in the same way the characters in the TV series Sliders did. And that there were many people who knew how to do this, going from world to world and periodically running into each other every now and then along the way. So it is kinda like a Multiverse thing. The "World" of Terraria could actually be a multiverse of some sort. And this new lore seems to fit with that, somewhat. I am just hoping the developers don't go too much into who your character is so that we can keep the idea that there are many characters out there all experiencing the same thing at the same time, going from world to world and inhabiting them all, not just one defined character.
