Stinkbugs!

I cannot seem to find any stink bugs to craft the flymeal or any other stinkbug related crafting item. Is there something that i might be missing in order to get stinkbugs to spawn?

There's a practical use for killing npcs.
In Hardcore mode, getting your character killed literally means Game Over, so it's impossible to farm for tombstones by killing yourself.
Killing town npcs while in a Hardcore mode character will spawn tombstones when they die.

also angler, princess, and pets leave instead of die because theyre children, not dropping a tombstone
