What Reforge is better for Melee?
I use Swords and Yo-yos mainly.
Is Warding or Menacing the better Prefix?

Considering that melee is the class with most armor.

Then go for Menacing or Lucky on your trinkets, having a high critical chance is really helpful.
While for melee weapons themselves, always aim for Legendary.

Like the other guy said, melee class already has the highest defence go menacing
Warduxe Oct 26, 2022 @ 3:07pm
menacing, violent, or lucky. a good balance of these outputs the highest dps.

A mixture of violent and menacing is good for melee, especially if you use swords/spears

violent often doesnt acctualy affect the shot rate of projectiles so its not the best one to go for so do menacing or lucky but a full defence build isnt the worst idea on a multyplayer server to act as the tank and take boss agro

What's the Golden Ratio?

Warding. Melee already puts out good DPS with its best weapons at any given stage at the game, so this prefix will prevent you from getting two-shotted by random stray projectiles from trash mobs.

Melee does not have good DPS. Melee already has the best defence in the game.

Melee does have good DPS, provided you're using non-terrible weapons. It having the best defence in the game is all the more reason to stack it. Adding 4 defence to the measly double-digit figures that the likes of Summoner and Mage get even late game will barely help you — but Melee can easily surpass 130 defence, and make Master Mode ML fights devoid of any danger.

warding is a skilless reforge but it does work really shouldnt be a priority tho as adding 20-28 extra defence when you already have 100 wont make a huge difference but 20-28% more damage will be huge

Depends on difficulty. Expert and below both full Menacing or full Warding works.

On Master or Master FTW go Menacing.

Cause Warding won't help you that much against hardmode bosses and enemies that hit harder than a drunken uncle on a family gathering.
So it's best to just end the fight faster with more damagè.

I don't understand why some people say that warding is bad on master when it's actually the only one that can help you in master if you're terrible at dodging. Maybe they're so good at dodging, or maybe they are not playing master mode at all.

I beat Moonlord with 110++ defense prebuff. Add ironskin and endurance potions + defensive beetle set + some regenerations and you can just laugh at his face as long as you have asphalt arena. Use flairon on top of all that and you don't even need to aim. Full warding melee + charm of myths + master ninja gear + brain of confusion + some mobilities is the ultimate noob friendly build. The moment you have low hp, your potion will always be available unless you go full afk.

Completely depends on what you want.
You could go maximum damage as melee, but you could also go for a full tank build with melee weapons, both are perfectly viable depending on your playstyle.
With the correct build and "arena" you can easily facetank bosses (outside of EoL(Day) ofc) even in legendary, while still dealing enough damage so limited time for some bosses isn't a problem.

All reforges are "skilless", which is why they give you an advantage with no trade-off; it doesn't really matter unless you want everything you do in game to be based on skill. 28 defence makes as much difference as 28% more damage does, except instead of killing bosses a few seconds quicker, you can instead take more hits. With a class like Summoner it will barely make a difference because their defence is still paper, but classes with already high defence can make most bosses deal less than 100 damage with the majority of their attacks, even in late hardmode (which makes them practically unable to kill you since health regen exists).
