Now, in the unlikely event there are other noobs on this forum here is how I did it:
1. I accidentally triggered the BEE-MONSTER and died like 5x to it but it dropped me a BEE-gun. Sweet.
2. I bought that purification powder and cleared a big area and put up platforms to jump on.
3. I smashed his orbs until he got super pi**ed with me and attacked.
4. I spammed the BEES. I guess those throwing star things would have worked too, or a big sword.
5. He got rekt, and I crafted the PICKAXE from his ghastly remains. Epic!
I did try the bomb suggestion but they bounced and never really landed where I wanted, and always left one annoying piece of ebenstone so gave up on that.
I love you all, peace.
EDIT:
I forgot, I also drank the potion that reduces incoming damage by 8, I forget what it is called. I had about 380 hearts by this time so he would have had to hit me a lot to win. Lets face it, he was doomed from the start, guy should have stayed down.
If not, I’d highly recommend making a obsidian skin potion, mining potion and getting a high speed modifier for the pickaxe, namely light, legendary, nimble or any prefix with +x% speed
300-350 hellstone and 100 obsidian makes about 100 hellstone bars, which is enough for the armor, the pickaxe (which is required for hard mode), and anything really.

That would be the ironskin potion, which increases your defense by 8. Defense is not a 1-1 ration on amount you have to damage reduced, however. On normal mode, 2 defense poionts = one point of damage reduced[Attack -(defense*.5) is the formula the game uses. On Expert mode it changes to Attack-(defense*.75)]
Cheers for the clarification. I think it was worth drinking it, though maybe I could have saved for a more dangerous fight.
like skeletron got 2 hands boi and a head, golem shoots lazerz, punch you with 2 arms, and tries to squash you like a bug, also flying head to dodge from
also i forgot skelly doesnt shoot the homing skulls on normal, i had a much harder time with those than anything golem threw at me
