Gray Zapinator OP or bug?

I was fighting wall of flesh, and i when he was around 6000 health, he died. i was using the zapinator and my best bet was that somehow, in 2 shots (before he died i shot twice, he was already at half health) i dealt 2000 k damage or smt but even that seems impossible. is it a bug or the game sparing me cuz i sucked at dodging laser or just zapinator being jank?

Simple answer is because you got lucky. The Zapinator has a random effect on every shot. and one these effects are doing DUMB amounts of damage in a single shot. Summarized, you got dream luck while using the Zapinator. Hope this helps.

Working as intended. Basically the Gray Zapinator can do a bunch of different things when fired, one of which is just a straight up 10x dmg mod, leading to what you saw. I think you can also get a critical hit on this 10x dmg shot as well, which leads to some big numbers.

also that boss is optional, same as duke fishron, so u dont have to fight them to order to progress

On top of the empress of light being optional, the daylight enrage form of her is further an optional aspect of that optional boss. Only the daylight enrage form does the oneshotting.

even if the gray zapinator underperforms, there's a direct upgrade available by the same means immediately in hardmode. 100 base damage, easily able to rng its way into tearing through bosses. Definitely possible to reach ML with it, although the lack of a third tier zapinator does make it a bit strenuous.

Adding onto that, there is also youtube videos of people only using Zapinators (1 of them or both) to complete a terraria run.

onestly i still do those bosses (cept empress) because i wanted just to fly. either way thanks guys. i'm going full summoner tho, when i was fighting WOF i was using mixed with obsidian armor.
