What's the best way to get obsidian?

The best way and the fastest is to search for lava lakes underground (not in hell though there the water evaporates) and make a hole in the direction of the biggest underground lake of water, from there you should just go where the lava lake is and start digging obsidian with a gold pickaxe or better.
ps there is a way to make infinite liquid pools but its really long to do and unless you need a really large amount of obsidian i do not recommend it

get liquid bombs, a little time consuming but once you get your first drop from the obsidian crate just go buy more from the demolitionist
