How to use Brand of Inferno's Shield

It says to rightclick but that doesn't do anything. Is this just another bug?

Do you have it equipped on your hotbar and not just picking the item up from your inventory with your cursor?

If you have it selected on your hotbar and right click, it should bring a shield in front of you. As to what the shield actually does, I am not sure because I only have used it to see the animation, not actually block or kill anything with that sword.

Brand of the Inferno does not have a shield.

However, if you have a shield equipped (any accessory with "Shield" in the name), you can bring it up for a parry, or hold it up for +20 defense while held.

That parry technique makes any melee attack by enemies do no damage to you and instead do double damage to enemies if you time it well.

It used to work as a cheese method for Duke Fishron but he got buffed for his enraged state.
